The main purpose of this project was to search for a new aesthetic solution for the floor standing speakers which mainly due to their material selection – mostly wood – are always defined by a limited series of static forms.
The premise was to create a design solution that could add more of “sculptural Gesture” and a subtle sense of “visual dynamism” to the common design language of this type of products, but in the same time the overall look should be designed in a way that could match any interior design style.
On the technical side instead, the main challenge was to avoid compromising so much of the interior space of the speakers box. Therefor the final solution and the best balance was to work on one angle of the box by creating a sweep surface that runs across the whole corner of the speaker and connects the front surface to one of the lateral ones by “twisting” around that corner and creating a rather organic look on one side, whilst the rest of the shape remains simple.
