THIS IS NOT YOUR EVERYDAY FUNERAL CARRIAGE!

“The Last Ride” is a visionary concept for a horse-drawn funeral carriage. The radical shape of this carriage is a reinterpretation of the classic funeral carriages and artillery carts used for funerals with big wooden wheels as a dominant visual element.

In this concept, the wheels get even more visual importance by being scaled up and in the same time the rest of the details being reduced to the minimum in such a way that the final shape is nothing but a cylindrical hollow object resembling a gigantic wheel.

This carriage uses two “Hubless wheels”, that are encased inside the body of the carriage and are completely hidden inside the body, except the lower part where wheels touch the ground and make the carriage move.

The silhouette of the carriage forms a perfect circle where the coffin is held by a horizontal beam at its center.

Due to the use of hubless wheels – deliberately hidden inside the body – no spinning or rotation can be seen during the movement and such effect can create an implication of lightness and a smooth movement just as if the carriage is levitating over the ground.

The body panels are made out of composite material and cover the aluminum structure of the carriage. The interior is covered by a deep-buttoned upholstery in white leather.
