“CURIOSITY + COURAGE = CREATIVITY”
Hamid Bekradi is the visionary designer behind some avant-garde concepts in the field of transportation design. With Middle Eastern roots, Italian design training – his style blends a forward-focused thinking with high aesthetic values & a passion for cutting-edge technologies.
He graduated in 2009 from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a Master’s Degree in Product Design & a specialization in Transportation Design. His final degree project, sponsored by IVECO from FIAT group was the first visionary concept vehicle for the future of touristic expeditions. Entitled “OEX Vehicles” the project became a viral internet sensation within the transportation design.
Hamid Bekradi was one of the first designers to join the former design director of BMW, Chris Bangle in his design firm in north of Italy. During his collaboration with Chris Bangle, he worked on a host of visionary design and pilot projects for companies such as SAMSUNG Electronics, Mahindra Automotive group & LVMH Hennessy. His experience covers a wide variety of projects from automotive to consumer electronics & product design.
In 2014 he established his own design firm “HBD Studios” in Milan and honed his specialization in the field of yacht design and luxury products. Since its start, HBD Studios has been working on both exterior and interior design of luxury yachts & consulting various shipyards in Europe and in Asia.
Thanks to a multi-disciplinary background in design and a specialization in Brand Strategy consultation, Hamid Bekradi has created his own unique method to approach yacht design projects from a much broader perspective.
Instead of starting with a classic approach that is limited to tackling space-related issues & technical or operational aspects, he starts with understanding the client’s ideal image of their desired yacht; and in the case of the shipyards or boat manufacturers, understanding the core values and the brand’s heritage. By understanding these values a pattern starts to form which will eventually lead to a “Strategy” for the design. The strategy then defines a direction for the Concept Development to head toward. By bringing into focus other design factors such as User Experience onboard, which are normally given less importance in a classic yacht design approach, he makes sure that the end result is the perfect combination of practicality, higher aesthetic values an object of pride & desire.
