“CURIOSITY + COURAGE = CREATIVITY”
Hamid Bekradi is the visionary designer behind some avant-garde concepts in the field of transportation design. With Middle Eastern roots, Italian design training, and a passion for modern design – his style blends a forward focused and global approach.
In 2010, his Master’s Degree project from the Polytechnic University of Milan, entitled “OEX Vehicles” became a viral internet sensation and within the transportation design community as the first futuristic concept vehicle for the tourist overland expeditions, sponsored by IVECO from FIAT group. Bekradi then worked as a freelance associate designer in the studio of former design director of BMW Group, Chris Bangle, for 4 years. During his collaboration with Chris Bangle, they worked on a host of visionary design and pilot projects for companies such as SAMSUNG Electronics, Mahindra Automotive group & the historical Italian lighting brand, Targetti Group. His experience covers a wide variety of projects from automotive to consumer electronics & product design.
After establishing his own design firm “HBD Studios” in Milan in 2014, he honed his specialization in the field of yacht design and luxury products. HBD Studios has been working on successful projects designing luxury yachts & consulting various shipyards in different countries such as Germany, United Kingdom and Dubai.
Thanks to a multi-disciplinary background in design and brand strategy consultation, he has created his own unique method to approach yacht design projects from a much broader perspective. Instead of limiting the design process into solving space-related issues & technical aspects, he starts with understanding the brand value and the client’s image of their desired yacht; therefor whether the client is an individual yacht owner or a shipyard and boat manufacturer, the first step in Bekradi’s approach is to understand the personal image of the individual or the brand values of the shipyard in order to come up with the proper “Strategy” that will eventually be incorporated & translated into the design of the yacht.
By bringing into focus other design factors such as User Experience onboard, and user interface design, which are normally given less importance in a classic yacht design approach, he makes sure that the end result is the perfect combination of practicality, higher aesthetic values an object of pride & desire.
Bekradi is firmly focused towards bringing the future design to the now.
